He now has to survive for 72 hours in the zombie-infested town. It will take his helicopter 72 hours to arrive at the rooftop. At the same time, he has to figure out the mystery behind the zombie outbreak.

Even after close to two decades since the release of the original. The structure that it sets up for the game is still as good which puts the freedom of the player as the main pillar.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster puts you into open-world zombie carnage that lets you engage with the world the way you see fit. You can do story missions, find more survivors to bring them along, or take down zombies with a lot of different weapons. There are a lot of weapons for you to use and all of them are fun to use. The moment-to-moment gameplay keeps the charm up.

The Humor In combat

Sledgehammer, chairs, baseball bats, furniture, bags, knives, chainsaws, and even firearms, there are an insane amount of items available for you to use throughout the map. Finding different weapons and then using them in combat is one of the most enjoyable experiences of the game. Dead Rising has always presented itself in a humorous way compared to Capcom’s other Zombie series Resident Evil. All of it becomes better when you are taking down zombies by the dozen in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

The New Stuff

The large amount of weapons, sandbox gameplay aspects, and 72-hour clock come together which results in a loop that keeps that charm alive. The core gameplay loop and the good design of Dead Rising are better due to the enhancements that Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster brings. The changes in the game include weapons having visible durability meters, moving while shooting, auto-saving, the ability to fast forward time, UI having more information, dodging being smoother, and more. All these aspects improve upon the stuff that made the original such a fun experience.

The original Dead Rising was quite brutal at times and a lot of it has been tuned down. Weapons have more durability, firearms are more powerful, and auto-saves make death less punishing, companions are more intelligent and progression is faster in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. All of these changes along with others bring an easier experience that many veteran players won’t like. The lower difficulty might be an issue for some players but that does change the fun that one can have just by moving through zombies.

Aside from all these changes, the game also adds new voiceovers for everyone in the game. Many players might prefer the original voiceover but the new one does a great job. The changes it brings are way more than what we expect from a remaster and raise the bar for the remasters. It even feels like calling it a remaster might not justify it.
